The monarchy of Galte is represented by the current prince, Michael, and is an institution guaranteed by the Constitution. Monarchy is a long-standing element of Galtean history, with Michael first being a king following a 25 August 2020 referendum to become a Kingdom. After becoming a colony of the Kingdom of Atiera, Munroe I became the king as Michael assumed the title of Prince. After Galte became independent, the nation remained a principality, and Michael holds power to this day.
The monarchy as an institution has seen very little resistance, with most citizens feeling indifferent towards it. However, its status as a historical element of government is undoubted and is a large factor in its continuance today.
